Installed provider bundles can now add governed trigger sources without editing the Slack, Google, and Microsoft implementations. The runtime loads hooks only when a trusted installed bundle owns the validated provider manifest and components.

Providers retain the existing connection ownership, background consent, identity, action-policy, OAuth, deduplication, lease, and cleanup boundaries. The extension API covers polling, direct push, authenticated handshakes, custom listeners, transactional admission, and nonexpiring subscriptions. Connections support provider-validated manual credentials with optional required expiration and identity selection.

Review fixes validate source batches before writes, resolve current descriptors after reload, preserve queued events while a provider is unavailable, keep policy denial separate from credential reconnect, and fence listener event writes against captured lease generation and trigger configuration. GET verification cannot mutate subscription or event state. Listener writes lock connection parents before leases and triggers, avoiding a PostgreSQL deadlock with concurrent connection deletion.

This is the shared prerequisite for the provider PRs. Provider adapters and default distribution dependency registration remain in their respective changes. The included CI seam validates later-provider contracts without changing frozen wave-one acceptance.

Verification

Python commands used UV_NO_SYNC=1, the prepared read-only langflow-base/lfx development environment, and this worktree first on PYTHONPATH.

  • With a local PostgreSQL admin database configured through LANGFLOW_TEST_DATABASE_URI, uv run --no-sync pytest src/backend/tests/integration/triggers/test_listener_connection_deletion.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_supervisor.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_leases.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_process.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_slack_socket_mode.py -n4 -q -o addopts= -o cache_dir=/private/tmp/trigger-runtime-pytest-cache -o log_cli=false — 95 passed at 77c8ca0d74, including three real concurrent deletion/emission/cursor PostgreSQL regressions. Each race reproduced a deadlock before the source fix; isolated test databases are removed afterward.
  • uv run --no-sync pytest src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_provider_lifecycle.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_execution_identity.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_dispatcher_dispatch.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_supervisor.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_leases.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_listener_process.py src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers/test_slack_socket_mode.py -n4 -q -o addopts= -o cache_dir=/private/tmp/trigger-runtime-pytest-cache -o log_cli=false — 177 passed at d0b21322fc.
  • npm test -- --runInBand --silent src/pages/SettingsPage/pages/ConnectionsPage/__tests__ src/controllers/API/queries/connections/__tests__ src/customization/components/__tests__/custom-connection-authorization.test.ts --cacheDirectory=/private/tmp/trigger-runtime-jest-cache — 158 passed across 11 suites, including rendered creation, reopen/refetch, expiration, identity selection, and axe checks.
  • node --expose-gc /private/tmp/trigger-runtime-ts-baseline.cjs — the full type-check has 255 existing diagnostics in 89 files. The read-only release-base comparison used the same TypeScript 5.9.3, tsconfig, dependencies, and 2,631 roots: all 255 diagnostics are identical, with zero additions, removals, or position changes.
  • node /private/tmp/trigger-runtime-manual-identity-ibm-scan.cjs and the corresponding DST/expiration fixture checks — IBM Equal Access found 0 violations in the actual rendered dialogs. Fixtures supply the application title and main landmark; a full live application route was not scanned.
  • Scoped Ruff and Biome checks, i18n parity, and repository pre-commit hooks passed.

Before the listener lock-order followup, the broader gate at d0b21322fc passed 1,181 tests with 3 skipped using uv run --no-sync pytest src/backend/tests/unit/services/triggers src/backend/tests/unit/services/connection src/backend/tests/unit/api/v1/test_trigger*.py src/backend/tests/unit/api/v1/test_connection*.py src/backend/tests/unit/api/v1/test_integration*.py src/backend/tests/unit/api/utils/test_migration_pause.py -n4 -q -o addopts= -o cache_dir=/private/tmp/trigger-runtime-pytest-cache -o log_cli=false. Earlier at ffe23b278b, uv run --no-sync pytest scripts/ci/ -q -o addopts= -o cache_dir=/private/tmp/trigger-runtime-ci-pytest-cache passed 678 tests with 1 skipped.

Final independent delta reviews, full CI at the uploaded head, and live provider registrations/network smoke remain open. Provider-specific packaging and acceptance remain with the corresponding PRs.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 0bd4f

This PR adds the shared runtime that provider integrations will build on. Custom polling triggers would appear active but never produce events, and repeated reconciliation can create duplicate remote subscriptions for some providers. Fix these two issues before merging; the provider id and source-item validation gaps are smaller and can be fixed in the same pass.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "feat(triggers): support provider-owned connection and source runtimes" matches the main change. The PR adds a trigger-provider registry, entry-point loading from installed integration bundles, and provider hooks for connections, source collection, subscriptions, ingress verification, and OAuth. It is concise, specific, and follows the conventional-commit style. It does not cover every detail, such as the frontend manual-token entry, but that is expected.

Full details: Test Coverage For New Implementations

Explanation

The PR includes substantial tests for the new functionality. Backend unit tests cover provider admission, ownership, cache invalidation, fail-closed validation, OAuth adapters, endpoint checks, JSON token exchange, refresh, expiry, and tenant validation. test_provider_lifecycle.py exercises database and API behavior for reconciliation, activation, signed POST delivery, GET challenges, deduplication, dispatch, polling fallback, policy failures, origin checks, and cleanup. The frontend .test.tsx file tests provider-validated token entry and submission, while existing Slack token tests remain. All changed test files follow the repository naming conventions.

Full details: Test File Naming And Structure

Explanation

The changed tests follow the repository patterns. Backend files use test_*.py names under src/backend/tests; frontend uses AddConnectionDialog.slackToken.test.tsx under src/frontend/src/__tests__, which matches Jest testMatch. Pytest tests use fixtures, monkeypatch, async support, pytest.raises, and cleanup through fixture scope. Test names are descriptive. The new tests cover successful provider OAuth and lifecycle flows, registry loading, dispatch, cleanup, and token creation. They also cover unknown providers, invalid endpoints, cache removal, malformed mechanisms, policy and ownership failures, origin rejection, duplicate delivery, and accessibility. The lifecycle tests are consistent with existing database-backed trigger tests kept under the unit service directory, so no directory or integration-structure issue is introduced.

Full details: Excessive Mock Usage Warning

Explanation

PASS — The changed tests use mocks at external boundaries, not for the core behavior under test. test_provider_lifecycle.py exercises real database sessions, trigger services, ingress routes, dispatch, cleanup, and httpx clients; its monkeypatches only install the synthetic provider and controlled settings. OAuth tests replace the provider adapter and token HTTP request to avoid network calls while asserting shared validation. The frontend test uses the existing mocked API hooks and asserts rendered UI and submitted data. No excessive mock usage or missing integration coverage is evident.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 30.37% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 135 functions across 36 files. (10 skipped: 10 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Test Quality And Coverage

Explanation

The tests use the correct patterns and cover the main push lifecycle, registry ownership, OAuth adapters, and frontend token entry. Coverage is incomplete for several new provider paths. DatabaseConnectionResolverService.create adds provider manual-credential validation, but the lifecycle fixture only returns the input and does not verify invocation or rejection cases. list_integrations manual-token profile logic has only a schema assertion and a frontend fixture. No tests exercise ingress source_items, custom response status/media/body limits, successful provider collection, provider renewal, custom ingress secrets, or listener registration. The lifecycle tests explicitly use collectors that fail if called, so they verify skipping rather than successful collection.

Resolution

Add backend pytest coverage for manual-token profile eligibility and deployment/policy filtering; manual-credential validator invocation, missing-validator rejection, and identity/result mutation rejection; provider ingress source-item append and foreign-item rejection; custom response status/media/body validation and invalid verifier results; successful and invalid provider collector results; provider renewal and ingress-secret hooks; and listener adapter registration. Keep the existing async pytest and frontend Jest/RTL patterns.
