[Critical impact] The PR appears safe to merge; no new actionable issues remain. SummaryRestores terminal-native links unless an enabled, available plugin claims them while mouse capture is on.
No new actionable issues were found. Code and regression coverage were inspected; tests were not run during this review.

The selective filtering addresses #5272, but the client needs a fallback for older compatible servers before removing its existing suppression.

Re-reviewed 87c4378. The capability-gated fallback resolves my mixed-version blocker. I checked capability initialization, endpoint switching, reconnect handling, and the regression coverage; no remaining code-review blockers found. Current CI is green. I did not rerun the suite locally or verify physical iTerm2 clicks; user testing remains useful before merge.

JJ has built experimental test artifacts from this PR’s approved head, Download and try safelySign into GitHub, open the successful build run, and download your platform under Artifacts:
These downloads expire October 28. Please leave your installed binary and existing sessions alone. Extract into a separate folder and open an ordinary terminal outside Herdr. In that folder: macOS/Linux: rename the extracted executable to chmod +x ./herdr-test
./herdr-test --session link-feedback-5457Windows: also extract the inner .\herdr.exe --session link-feedback-5457Use that session name only for this test; choose another unused name if it already exists. Keep Feedback requestedIn the test session, try your previously failing labeled link using your terminal’s usual shortcut, and check that tab clicks and split dragging still work. For SSH application links such as Please reply on issue #5272 with your OS, terminal/version, local or SSH setup, click gesture, and whether the link and mouse controls worked. If it fails, a non-private example of the link type/label is enough; no terminal transcript is needed. Links claimed by enabled, available plugins remain reserved for Herdr and still need a Ctrl-click that the terminal forwards. This does not add plain-click activation or fix native detection of wrapped plain-text URLs. Wrapped explicit OSC 8 links should retain their full destination. After saving any test work, use a separate ordinary terminal in the extracted folder to stop and delete only the test session: ./herdr-test session stop link-feedback-5457
./herdr-test session delete link-feedback-5457On Windows, use |

@coderabbitai review Follow-up adds native targets for plain-text HTTP(S) URLs across real terminal wraps, using the existing bounded resolver. Regression coverage exercises native ANSI playback, continuation edits after plugin reservation, removal, offscreen and partial schemes, Unicode, hard-line boundaries, and clipping. Ordinary wrapped text retains incremental updates. No plugin API or wire changes. Full local checks passed on the current master base. All five ReleaseSafe/SIMD-off test artifacts are rebuilding for this head. |

Re-reviewed c284fbd, including the new plain-text URL projection across soft wraps, explicit OSC 8 precedence, and invalidation when continuation text changes outside otherwise clean rows. No additional code-review blockers found. The tests cover destination creation, changes, removal, plugin reservation, and offscreen/clipped cases; the older-server capability fallback remains intact.
The reports in #5272 validate explicit-link opening and retained mouse controls on 87c4378 in Ghostty and Windows Terminal. They do not yet validate the new plain-text wrapping code, and Ghostty still required Shift+Command-click. Current build/test checks pass; Greptile is still pending. This review was code/test inspection, not a local test rerun or physical terminal validation.

@coderabbitai review Corrected the P1 about plugin links bypassing handlers after changing mouse capture and switching connections. The client now sends the preference to every connected endpoint, replays the latest value after a connection finishes opening, and accepts local config-reload notices while another machine is active. Failed sends keep the existing per-connection failure handling. The regression failed before the fix. Full local checks passed: 3,492 Rust tests, 13 existing skips, plus the remaining |

@coderabbitai review Corrected the P2 about Ctrl-hover underlines on plugin-owned explicit web labels. The existing resolver now returns bounded visible regions for those labels, including wrapping and wide glyphs, without restoring native click targets. The client clips the response to its own pane. There are no wire or plugin API changes. All three added/extended regressions failed before the fix. Full local checks passed: 3,493 Rust tests, 13 existing skips, plus lint, build, maintenance, architecture, integration-asset, and docs checks. Independent scope/correctness review found no issues. Platform artifacts remain held until CI and bot reviews are clear. |

Thanks for picking this up. Adding a Ghostty data point, since the earlier Ghostty test was over SSH to Linux. Setup: macOS, Ghostty 1.3.2, herdr 0.9.5 stable, mouse capture on, Claude Code as the agent. What I'm missing: in plain Ghostty, Cmd-hover underlines URLs and local file paths, and Cmd-click opens them (browser, Finder or the default app, Obsidian for vault notes). Ghostty does this from the visible text, so it works for agent output with no OSC 8 at all, e.g. What would help: with #5457, links that no enabled plugin claims should go back to the terminal, and I hope that includes plain-text paths Ghostty detects, not just OSC 8 and Happy to test a build on macOS/Ghostty. |
This restores opening links with your terminal's usual shortcut while keeping Herdr's mouse controls working. #5064 stopped the terminal from opening all explicit hyperlinks when mouse capture was enabled; that was too broad.
With mouse capture enabled (the default):
vscode://link, with no matching pluginhttp://orhttps://URL that wraps across pane rowsTabs, menus, selection, and split resizing keep working throughout. There are no new settings or plugin API changes.
Changing mouse capture also updates every connected machine, so switching connections keeps plugin links working. Connections that finish opening after a setting change receive the latest preference.
Web links handled by plugins keep their Ctrl-hover underline, including wrapped labels and the visible portion in a clipped pane.
Plain-text URLs follow actual terminal auto-wraps. Spaces and line breaks inserted by the application end the URL. Destinations stay correct when the URL changes, including edits to a later wrapped row or an offscreen part.
Plugin-owned links still need a click that the terminal forwards to Herdr. A failed plugin action shows an error and stops. Other links use the terminal's normal shortcuts; for example, the macOS Ghostty tester below used Shift+Command-click. Windows Terminal can also intercept URLs it detects in visible text.
Both client and server need the updated build. A client connected to an older server keeps the previous capture behavior until that server is updated and restarted.
Community feedback and testing
Thanks to everyone in #5272 for the excellent feedback and for testing the PR artifacts. Their reports helped confirm the restored behavior and identify the missing wrapped plain-text case.

just check: 3,493 Rust tests passed, 13 existing skips. Formatting, lint, build, maintenance, architecture, integration-asset, and documentation checks passed on the current master base.ff310f9a, along with Windows ConPTY packaging, Nix, and the distribution contract.ff310f9awith no remaining actionable findings. Both review threads from the follow-up are resolved. Akbash's latest approval covers the earlierc284fbd8.just bench-render-scalepassed with 1 and 15 panes, including incremental updates for ordinary wrapped text. Repeated alternating base/change timings varied substantially with machine load: one-pane medians ranged 0.88–1.55 ms before versus 0.82–1.54 ms after; 15-pane medians ranged 0.90–1.54 ms versus 0.89–1.56 ms. These results do not support a precise overhead claim. Cell reads are batched, and each candidate token is formatted once.refs #5272
