The published zig-config dependency fails to build in a Zig 0.16 consumer, while current main already contains the compatibility fixes. Declare the existing documented 0.16 minimum and verify 0.16.0/0.17.1 on Linux and macOS before creating or publishing a tagged release.

The reusable CI workflow uses a verified released Pantry action, formats the package's own source with the minimum supported compiler, and gates publication. A release:patch alias exposes the existing canonical release command.

Validation:

  • All 35 library tests passed under Zig 0.16.0 and 0.17.1.
  • Owned-source formatting passed under Zig 0.16.0.
  • An actual Zig 0.15.1 source compilation rejects the current ObjectMap and filesystem APIs, confirming the stale minimum metadata against the existing 0.16+ documentation.

Refs #1. Published artifact verification and the Pickier consumer upgrade remain required before that delivery issue is complete.

Declare the documented Zig 0.16 minimum and test both supported stable compilers. Gate publication on tagged-source CI and provide the canonical patch release command.
