Part of DX-3074. The CLI is now published as upstash (1.5.0, also still as @upstash/cli) and has upstash setup (upstash/cli#23, upstash/cli#28). Run with no arguments in a terminal, npx upstash starts setup and connects the coding agents on the machine to Upstash.

Changes

  • upstash-cli skill: install with npm i -g upstash, or run one-off commands with npx upstash <command>. A new "Connect coding agents to Upstash" section covers upstash setup: npx upstash for a person at a terminal, npx -y upstash setup --yes --<agent> from an agent or script, plus --mode mcp, --project and --dry-run. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI get the plugin; VS Code, Copilot CLI and OpenCode get the remote MCP server plus the upstash skill. The skill description mentions agent setup so the skill loads for those requests. Rebuilt into the combined upstash skill.
  • README: a "One command" section for npx upstash ahead of the per-agent steps, with the non-interactive form for agents and --mode mcp. The install intro and the OpenCode section now point at npx upstash for skills + MCP in one step, and the Cursor section points at npx upstash setup --cursor until the marketplace listing lands.

Companion PRs: upstash/docs#890, upstash/upstash-web#679, upstash/upstash-console-v2#1565.

Tested

  • Checked against upstash@1.5.0: npx upstash opens setup in a terminal, and the prompt's npx -y upstash setup --yes --<agent> runs non-interactively.
  • npm run check (manifest check, build, "upstash skill is up to date") passes.
  • Every setup example was run against upstash@1.5.0 with --dry-run, including --project (Claude Code installs the plugin at project scope; Codex and Cursor fall back to project MCP + skill).

… README

- upstash-cli skill: `npm i -g upstash` (plus `npx upstash <command>`), rebuilt into the combined upstash skill.
- README: a one-command install section for `npx upstash setup` ahead of the per-agent steps.

The skill now explains that `npx upstash` (in a terminal) or `npx -y upstash setup --yes --<agent>` (from an agent or script) connects coding agents to Upstash: the Upstash plugin for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI, and the remote MCP server plus the upstash skill for VS Code, Copilot CLI, and OpenCode. The description mentions it so the skill loads for agent setup requests. Rebuilt the combined upstash skill.

The install intro and the OpenCode section pointed skills-only users at adding the MCP server by hand; they now mention `npx upstash`, which does both. The one-command section shows the non-interactive form for agents and `--mode mcp`, and the Cursor section points at `npx upstash setup --cursor` until the marketplace listing lands.
