…quest Desktop usage is measured from aggregate counts of update checks, but only macOS checked, the request said nothing about version or platform, and the site claimed the app sends no telemetry. - Run the treq.dev/version check on macOS, Windows, and Linux with an in-process reqwest GET (5 s timeout) instead of a curl subprocess. - Send exactly `User-Agent: treq/<version> (<os>; <arch>)` and no cookies, auth, or Referer. - Split "can check" from "can install". Install stays macOS-only. Windows and Linux toasts open the latest GitHub release instead. - Add an app-level "Check for updates" setting (default on). When it is off, or TREQ_DISABLE_AUTO_UPDATE is set, check_for_app_update sends no request. The command is now async, so the check no longer runs on the main thread. - Document the check in Security and Privacy and Customizing Settings, and reword the landing page and README telemetry claims. jj 0.46 adds a .git worktree file to new workspaces in colocated repos, so a create interrupted after registration left a directory with .jj and .git. The recovery check only accepted a lone .jj entry and refused the retry.
