codex v0.162.1-1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 14:28

OpenAI Codex — the terminal coding agent — built for iOS on custom firmware and installed as codex.

Which one do I download?

The architecture field names the bootstrap layout, not the CPU. Both packages carry the same arm64 binary.

your bootstrap download
rootless (Dopamine, palera1n rootless) wiki.qaq.codex_0.162.1-1_iphoneos-arm64.deb
roothide (RootHide Dopamine) wiki.qaq.codex_0.162.1-1_iphoneos-arm64e.deb

Not sure? Ask the device: dpkg --print-architecture.

Requires iOS 15 or later and a bootstrap that provides a shell. Or add the OwnGoal Studio repository and let your package manager pick.

Usage

Run codex in a terminal on device. Authenticate with ChatGPT or an API key. The browser login uses uiopen. Code Mode uses the packaged native codex-code-mode-host sidecar.

The iOS launcher adds --no-daemon by default to prevent startup from creating
the shared background daemon, which can conflict with existing processes on
iOS. Interactive sessions run without that daemon; features requiring the shared
daemon are unavailable in this mode. You do not need to add the option yourself.

About this build

Upstream openai/codex@092d3ac, plus the patches that port it to an iOS userspace on custom firmware. The binary is a Rust executable: it is not linked with libvroot, so it has to probe for the bootstrap's shell instead of trusting /bin/sh. See patches/.

Verify your download against SHA256SUMS.

Full changelog: https://github.com/owngoal-dev/codex/commits/v0.162.1-1

This build follows the newest stable Codex release and includes native package
details with release notes in Sileo. Dependency patches tolerate unrelated
upstream manifest additions.
CLI startup passes bootstrap paths to payloads that use the physical filesystem;
RootHide virtual-filesystem utilities retain their official import rewriting.
RootHide device validation is pending; a successful build is not a claim that
all interactive runtime paths have been tested.
