B6.5 connects Envoy's concrete process census and cleanup to the existing serialized lifecycle dispatcher. Cancellation and finalization validate the actual foreground group, preserve the completion helper, and prove descendant cleanup before shell reuse. Timeout termination waits for the selected Bash reap and an empty controlled tree before terminal publication.

Awsh preserves the actual selected-child exit fact across interrupted helper I/O. It retains substantive helper and proof failures, joins the existing operation job, and reports the active operation and last valid working directory through the existing shell_exit frame.

Validation on the current candidate includes the Go race suite, vet, amd64 builds, ARM64 compilation, generated-consumer checks, three genuine amd64 Bash qualification runs, 48 native lifecycle cases, and four negative controls. Focused real-child/socket regressions cover completion-entry, accepted-peer registration and final-read interruption. The final-read regression isolates the existing read block and does not claim the complete native scheduling interleaving. ARM64 execution and later B8 conformance remain outside this slice.

B6.5 connects Envoy's concrete process census and cleanup to the existing serialized lifecycle dispatcher. Cancellation and finalization validate the actual foreground group, preserve the completion helper, and prove descendant cleanup before shell reuse. Timeout termination waits for the selected Bash reap and an empty controlled tree before terminal publication.

Awsh preserves the actual selected-child exit fact across interrupted helper I/O. It retains substantive helper and proof failures, joins the existing operation job, and reports the active operation and last valid working directory through the existing `shell_exit` frame.

Validation on the current candidate includes the Go race suite, vet, amd64 builds, ARM64 compilation, generated-consumer checks, three genuine amd64 Bash qualification runs, 48 native lifecycle cases, and four negative controls. Focused real-child/socket regressions cover completion-entry, accepted-peer registration and final-read interruption. The final-read regression isolates the existing read block and does not claim the complete native scheduling interleaving. ARM64 execution and later B8 conformance remain outside this slice.

In the old code, the ForwardInput, PublishGate and continueGate paths called endControlled whenever errors.Is(err, errLifecycleEnd) was true. The new deferred handler only does that when completionInterrupted accepts every joined cause, and that check uses == against errLifecycleEnd, context.Canceled and errWorkInterrupted.

An interrupted worker usually returns more than a bare context error. Take a lifecycle timeout or shell_exit while writePTY is blocked on a full PTY: work cancels the job, the joinedAfterFunc sets the write deadline to now, and writePTY returns helper.WithContextCause(r.ctx, helper.WithContextCause(ctx, err)). That is Join(*os.PathError(i/o timeout), context.Canceled). SendPrivate/WriteControl produce the same shape when cancelled mid-write. The *PathError fails completionInterrupted, so the deferred handler skips endControlled. The error then reaches c.fatal(..., "operation-cleanup", ...) instead of publishing the timeout or shell-ended result.

The new tests miss this because their overlays (nativeLifecycleCompletion, nativeLifecycleCleanup) return a bare ctx.Err() before any real I/O starts.

Fix: also count the deadline error from a cancelled job as cooperative interruption, e.g. accept os.ErrDeadlineExceeded when it is joined with context.Canceled/errWorkInterrupted, or compare against the job's cancellation cause. Alternatively, keep the old errors.Is(err, errLifecycleEnd) handling for the ForwardInput and PublishGate paths.
