Extend modules for IPC outbound possible?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible and would make sense to extend the module to enable bidirectional communication via UNIX sockets? Or are there better ways to achieve this?

I suppose it is possible. It would probably need separate nodes for UNIX domain sockets and Windows named pipes. Do you have a requirement for such a node, or is this just an idea?
