Supercharged fork. This repository contains a fork of Herdr customized for personal coding-agent workflows. The original project is maintained by the Herdr team.
Experimental. This fork is an experiment and is not officially supported or endorsed by the Herdr team.
Use the releases and installation guide, including the separate herdr-supercharged setup. Fork versions use a -supercharged.N suffix. The upstream installer, package-manager commands, badges, and herdr update below refer to upstream Herdr; they do not distribute these customizations.
- Personal Space groups: organize workspaces into groups, with a "Move to group" action; unread spaces stay visible in collapsed groups.
- Workspace tab list.
- Automatic Claude/Codex conversation naming, with task names preserved through agent activity titles.
- Configurable agent activity and completion indicators.
- Background-task tracking, including Codex background activity routing and completion (with an opt-in zsh helper for per-pane Codex launches).
- Idle-session suspension that only applies to read, idle tabs; unread completions, viewed tabs, working or blocked agents and background work are left alone. Suspended tabs keep their names and show a display-only "(Suspended)" suffix.
- Suspend a workspace, worktree group or Space group on demand from its right-click menu (
workspace.suspendAPI); tabs in view, busy agents and agents without a saved session keep running. - Resource usage reporting: a
server.resource_usageAPI (Linux PSS-based) and a client resource usage view. - Bundled herdr-resurrect plugin with hourly automatic snapshots and 30-day retention, verified to work across live handoff.
- Version scheme (
-supercharged.N) that stays compatible with upstream version checks.

the runtime your coding agents live on.
- detach without stopping work — herdr keeps terminals running in a background server when you close the client or lose your SSH connection. after a server or machine restart, herdr restores the saved layout and can resume supported agent sessions; the original processes do not survive. session state →
- several machines, one window — keep local work and saved ssh machines together, with a combined agent list and independent reconnects. remote machines →
- never hunt for the stuck one — every pane is marked working, blocked, or idle. when an agent stops and needs an answer, herdr says so.
- agent-native — agents drive herdr through the cli and socket api: they can spawn panes, prompt each other, and wait until another agent is genuinely blocked. agent skill →
- runs what you already run — claude code, codex, cursor, opencode, grok and the rest. herdr doesn't wrap or replace them; it owns their terminals. building an agent? add herdr support →
- keyboard and mouse, both first-class — tmux-style prefix keys and click, drag, split. pick per moment, not per tool.
- plugins — extend panes and workflows. browse the marketplace →
- one rust binary, no electron — runs in whatever terminal you already use.
For the supercharged build, follow the installation guide. The commands below install upstream Herdr.
curl -fsSL https://herdr.dev/install.sh | shor brew install herdr · mise use -g herdr · windows: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -c "irm https://herdr.dev/install.ps1 | iex" · endpoint-protected Windows · binaries
then start it where the work lives:
herdrrun your agents, split panes, walk away. ctrl+b q detaches, herdr reattaches. quick start →
