fix(deps): block compromised LiteLLM installs - #15939
Conversation
Exclude LiteLLM 1.107.0 from published dependency metadata and constrain isolated CI installs to the existing locked version 1.103.2. Use fresh uv cache keys and test transitive resolution without a workspace lock.

WalkthroughThe change pins LiteLLM to version 1.103.2 for CI, updates dependency requirements to exclude version 1.107.0, and updates Toolguard and bundle versions. CI and release workflows apply the constraint, and new tests check dependency and workflow configuration. ChangesLiteLLM dependency policy and enforcement

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Pin the new setup-uv action to an immutable commit.
@v10.0.0is a mutable tag. If its target changes, this security-test job can run different action code without a workflow change. Use the reviewed release’s full commit SHA and retainv10.0.0as a comment. GitHub identifies a full SHA as the immutable action reference. (docs.github.com)Based on learnings, third-party workflow actions should use full-length immutable commit SHAs because mutable tags can be retargeted.

Supply constraints when releasing an older source commit.
If inputs.release_commit predates this new file, the release jobs check out a source tree without scripts/ci/security-constraints.txt. Their UV_CONSTRAINT and PIP_CONSTRAINT still name that file, so dependency installation fails instead of building the selected commit. The selected-ref checkouts in .github/workflows/release_bundles.yml and .github/workflows/release_nightly.yml have the same condition. Supply a trusted constraint file independently of the selected source ref, or explicitly reject unsupported older refs before installation. (docs.astral.sh)

Remove the separate CI constraint file and restore the workflows. Keep the LiteLLM 1.107.0 exclusions in package metadata and the existing workspace constraint, with offline pip resolution tests for guarded transitive installs.
Exclude LiteLLM
1.107.0from the normal package requirements and existing workspace constraint, covering the Opik, ToolGuard and CUGA dependency paths. These exclusions also protect standalone installs that do not use the workspace lockfile. See the upstream incident report.!=1.107.0; regenerateduv.lockretains1.103.2and upstream compatibility bounds.lfx-toolguard:0.2.0 → 0.2.2, including dependent ranges/profile metadata. Scope this backport to LFX 1.13 so it cannot replace the published 1.14 bundle.lfx-bundles:1.2.3 → 1.2.4to publish the CUGA exclusion. No workflow changes, separate constraint file or additional version pin to maintain.
Validation: 7 offline pip regression tests prove the package requirements reject
1.107.0without a lockfile or CI constraints while accepting other compatible versions; 14 bundle-profile tests and 21 existing dependency-security tests pass. Fresh ToolGuard installs without additional constraints resolve LiteLLM1.106.2on Python 3.10 and 3.13; imports, manifest validation, all 23 tests per version anduv pip checkpass.uv lock --checkand the bundle release plan pass.Remediation of previously exposed environments remains a separate incident-response task.
