Summary

Adds a jsonify provider bundle under src/bundles/lfx-bundles with one component, Jsonify Dataset, that reads rows from a Jsonify dataset serve URL.

Jsonify pipelines run on a schedule, repair themselves when a source changes, and publish the result as a dataset. This component lets a flow read that maintained dataset instead of scraping at run time, as a step or as an agent tool, next to the Apify Actors and Firecrawl components.

What's in the component

  • Inputs: serve_url (secret, the only credential), columns, filters (JSON object, exact match, AND), max_rows and version (advanced)
  • Outputs: DataFrame, Rows (list[Data]), Tool (agent can pass filters, columns, max_rows; the serve URL is never exposed)
  • Pages through has_more/next_offset, pins version after the first page, truncates client-side to max_rows
  • All requests go through lfx.utils.ssrf_httpx.ssrf_safe_httpx_get; an SSRF block raises before any request (test included, same shape as test_ssrf_guarded_url_components.py)
  • No third-party SDK: jsonify = [] extra, added to the all and all-no-torch aggregates in alphabetical position. If scripts/migrate/consolidate_bundles.py should regenerate those, happy to drop the hand edit and let it.
  • Docs page docs/docs/Components/bundles-jsonify.mdx

Testing

src/bundles/lfx-bundles/tests/test_jsonify_dataset.py: paging + version pinning, max_rows, tool schema hides the URL, SSRF block before request, tool error string. All pass against lfx 1.12.6. Also exercised live against a public demo dataset (no account needed): https://factory.jsonify.com/api/serve/4f4980ec5c28.

Icon: uses the Lucide Database icon for now; a Jsonify SVG under src/frontend/src/icons/ can follow in a separate PR if you'd like one.

Drafted with Claude Code following the Home Assistant and Apify bundle patterns; reviewed and run by me. I'm the Jsonify founder and will maintain it.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a Jsonify Dataset component for retrieving paginated dataset rows.
    • Supports column selection, exact-match filters, row limits, dataset version selection, and metadata preservation.
    • Provides DataFrame, row-list, and agent-tool outputs with row counts.
    • Protects dataset serve URLs and blocks unsafe requests.
  • Documentation

    • Added guidance for configuring Jsonify datasets, filters, outputs, and row/version metadata.

Adds the jsonify provider bundle with one component that reads rows from a
Jsonify dataset serve URL. Jsonify pipelines run on a schedule and repair
themselves when a source changes, so a flow reads a maintained dataset
instead of scraping at run time.

- DataFrame, Rows and Tool outputs; the agent tool exposes filters, columns
and max_rows and never the serve URL
- pages through has_more/next_offset, pins version after the first page,
  truncates to max_rows
- fetches through ssrf_safe_httpx_get; SSRF block is surfaced before any
request and covered by a test
- no third-party dependency (jsonify = [] extra), docs page added

The Jsonify tool output can reveal the credential-bearing dataset URL to an agent on HTTP errors. It can also ignore the configured filters and columns, and an agent can request an unbounded fetch. Fix these before merging.

Full details: Test Coverage For New Implementations

Explanation

The PR adds src/bundles/lfx-bundles/tests/test_jsonify_dataset.py, which follows the backend test_*.py convention and is included by the bundle test configuration. The tests exercise paging and version pinning, query parameter encoding, row limits, DataFrame output, tool schema and JSON output, SSRF blocking, and tool error handling. These tests cover the new component behavior through the HTTP boundary and are not placeholders.

Full details: Test File Naming And Structure

Explanation

The PR adds src/bundles/lfx-bundles/tests/test_jsonify_dataset.py, which matches the backend test_*.py pattern and the bundle pytest tests path. Its five pytest functions have descriptive names and use scoped mocks or pytest's monkeypatch for isolation. The tests cover successful paging and version pinning, column/filter parameters, max-row behavior, tool output and schema, SSRF rejection before HTTP, and tool error handling. No frontend or integration test applies to this backend-only change.

Full details: Excessive Mock Usage Warning

Explanation

Mock use is appropriate and not excessive. The new tests use one reusable MagicMock response helper and patch only the external HTTP boundary. They still exercise component logic and assert rows, pagination parameters, version pinning, dataframe limits, tool output, and SSRF request blocking. The tests do not mock core component behavior, so an integration test is optional rather than required by this check.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 7.14% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 14 functions across 3 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Test Quality And Coverage

Explanation

The tests use pytest correctly and cover several success paths: pagination, version pinning, query parameter construction, row truncation, tool schema hiding, and SSRF blocking. However, coverage is incomplete for the new HTTP-backed implementation. The component calls response.raise_for_status() at jsonify_dataset.py:221, and _run_for_tool() promises to convert httpx.HTTPError to an error string at lines 142-150, but no test supplies an HTTP error response or verifies that conversion. The SSRF error test only covers SSRFProtectionError. The tool success test also does not verify that its filters, columns, and max_rows reach the request. Invalid filter input and explicit version handling are untested. This does not meet the required API success and error-response coverage.

Resolution

Add pytest cases that make raise_for_status() raise representative httpx.HTTPStatusError or another httpx.HTTPError, then assert direct output propagates as intended and tool output is an error string. Assert tool invocation request parameters for filters, columns, and max_rows. Add cases for malformed/non-object filters, explicit version forwarding, and the DataFrame/Rows output contents and metadata. Keep the existing pagination and SSRF tests.

* The **Rows** output returns one [`Data`](/data-types#data) object per row.
* To use it with an agent, change the output to **Tool** and connect it to the **Tools** port on an **Agent** component. The agent can pass `filters`, `columns` and `max_rows`; the serve URL stays in the component.

Every row carries a stable `_row_id`. The response metadata includes the dataset `version` and `updated_at`, and pages are pinned to one version so a republish during a run never mixes versions.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Qualify the _row_id claim.

If Columns contains only competitor, the component requests that selection without adding _row_id. A returned row therefore need not carry _row_id. Tell users to include _row_id when they need stable row identity. As per coding guidelines, component documentation must meet the “Accuracy” requirement.

- Fetch with ssrf_safe_httpx_get_bounded (20 MB page cap) and parse JSON locally
- Never put the serve URL in errors: HTTP status only, redacted SSRF messages
- Tool merges configured filters (they win) and columns (agent can only narrow);
component Max rows caps the agent's limit; tool max_rows is 1-10000
- Always request _row_id with selected columns
- Stop paging on an empty page or a non-advancing cursor; validate page shape
- Add truncated flag to tool results

Pushed 54be11f addressing the CodeRabbit review:

  • Bounded fetch. Requests go through ssrf_safe_httpx_get_bounded with a 20 MB page cap, and the body is parsed locally. Page shape is validated.
  • No URL in errors. HTTP failures report only the status, SSRF and size errors are redacted, and transport errors report the exception type.
  • Tool honours component config. Configured filters always apply and win on conflict. The agent can only narrow the configured columns, and the component's Max rows caps the agent's limit.
  • Tool max_rows is 1–10,000 (default 100), with no 0-means-all.
  • _row_id is always requested when columns are selected, so the docs claim holds.
  • Paging stops on an empty page or a non-advancing next_offset. Tool results carry a truncated flag.
  • SSRF test now asserts at httpx.Client.send, which the helper actually uses.
  • New tests: HTTP error, oversized response, malformed filters (bad JSON, non-object), version forwarding, filter/column merging, truncation, bad response shape. 17 pass.
  • Docstrings added; docs page updated.

Re-ran live against the public demo dataset, including a 404 to confirm the redacted error.

- Add jsonify/jsonify_dataset.py to GUARDED_MODULES (SSRF wiring test)
- Add ext:jsonify:JsonifyDatasetComponent@official migration target
- Track jsonify in the release inventory contract
- Bump lfx-bundles 1.3.0 -> 1.3.1 via scripts/ci/bundle_release_plan.py update
