Add an opt-in FlashData bundle for fetching Google and YouTube data in Langflow flows and agent tools. For example, a research flow can query Google Search, preserve the structured response and pass it through a Parser; Tool Mode exposes the primary query to the agent while API credentials and source options stay configured on the component.

The bundle provides 15 capabilities as 17 components, with separate submit, status and result readers for asynchronous YouTube delivery. Submission requires an explicit operator setting and customer-storage credential. Requests do not automatically retry or poll; result reads validate the authenticated storage origin and do not forward the API Key. Installation is free; API usage, model-provider usage and customer storage have separate costs.

This targets release-1.13.0 and follows the current standalone bundle layout under src/bundles. It registers the extension, opt-in bundles extra, release inventory and frontend menu without adding a default dependency. Fifteen task documentation pages plus a bundle overview explain inputs, output, runnable flow examples, credentials, costs and limitations. The package has not been published to PyPI.

Validation:

  • 98 offline tests exercise actual components, Agent toolkit invocation, connected Graph/Parser execution, all 15 documented examples, credential boundaries, job lifecycle and signed result URLs. Socket access is blocked and HTTP responses use fixtures; no live FlashData API, model or customer-storage writes were performed.
  • 122 related release inventory, release workflow and bundle release-plan tests passed.
  • Ruff format/check and the complete Docusaurus build passed. The docs build still emits existing unrelated OpenAPI/anchor warnings.
  • Built wheel and sdist; installed the wheel in an isolated Python 3.12 environment with the official 1.13 development LFX source. Extension validation and all 17 component registrations passed; schema, license and all 15 source examples are packaged.

Prepared with AI assistance and reviewed against FlashData's API contracts. These are proposed component/docs additions; they do not claim existing official catalog approval or published template entries.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added FlashData integrations for Google Search, News, Images, Shopping, Videos, and Places, plus YouTube search, metadata, transcripts, captions, channel insights, suggestions, trainability labels, and downloads.
    • YouTube download workflows support submitting jobs and checking their status and results.
    • Added FlashData to the component sidebar with guides and runnable examples.
  • Documentation

    • Added setup and usage guidance, including credentials, input limits, paid-credit considerations, and download storage requirements.

Review follow-up (2026-10-18)

  • Removed description frontmatter from all 15 task pages, leaving title and slug.
  • Aligned the YouTube License Metadata input description with the supported video ID / URL contract, retaining the absence of Advanced Parameters.
  • Added the required existing FLASHDATA_DOWNLOAD_JOB_ID to both the download example setup and its guide. The example only reads status.
  • Corrected the bundle overview to say proposed / not yet merged or published.

For the GCS bucket-name comment: native GCS supports underscores, but FlashData's current backend validator rejects them. An offline check against that validator accepts review-bucket and rejects review_bucket. Broadening only this client would send requests that fail server validation. Kept the current provider contract and documented the limitation in the download guide and a code comment; this does not claim broader GCS support. Changing the provider API is a separate product change.

Validation for this revision: 98 socket-blocked tests passed; Ruff format/check passed; full Docusaurus build passed with the existing unrelated OpenAPI/anchor warnings. Runtime Python AST is unchanged (only documentation, a docstring and one explanatory comment changed). No live API, model or customer-storage operations.

The previous CI run's Python 3.14 Group 2 test test_paused_time_does_not_count_against_compute_timeout[sqlite] timed out under its 1-second budget; the performance summary and overall CI gate failed downstream. The rerun API previously required repository admin rights. No timeout assertion or execution behavior was changed to mask this failure; the new revision is subject to fresh CI.

Full details: Test Coverage For New Implementations

Explanation

The PR adds src/bundles/flashdata/tests/test_flashdata_components.py, which follows the backend test_*.py convention. The tests exercise all 15 capability entries, all documented examples, component and Agent-tool paths, validation, credentials, HTTP errors, retries, download submission, job status/result handling, extension loading, and connected Graph/Parser execution. The release inventory test also covers the new opt-in distribution. These are substantive tests, not placeholders.

Full details: Test Quality And Coverage

Explanation

Tests provide strong behavioral coverage. The new pytest module uses async test functions, and repository configuration sets pytest-asyncio to auto mode. Parameterized tests exercise all 14 realtime capabilities through direct components and Agent tools, connected Graph/Parser execution, all 15 documented examples, and all 17 extension registrations. Tests assert request payloads, headers, outputs, credential boundaries, defaults, validation-before-request behavior, redacted HTTP errors, timeout handling, no retries, paid-download authorization, storage redaction, job lifecycle, and trusted result URLs. The API paths have both success and error cases. The frontend change is a declarative sidebar registration, with existing Jest coverage for the sidebar bundle list.

Full details: Excessive Mock Usage Warning

Explanation

PASS: Mocking is limited to external HTTP responses and network/environment safety. The tests use httpx.MockTransport while executing the real Client, components, Agent tools, Graph/Parser paths, extension loading, and examples. No AsyncMock or MagicMock replaces core logic, and the tests assert request payloads, headers, call counts, validation, redaction, and lifecycle behavior.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 73 functions across 44 files. (25 skipped: 25 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Full details: Test File Naming And Structure

Explanation

The new backend test file uses the correct test_*.py name, pytest fixtures, descriptive test names, and positive and negative cases. However, test_connected_graph_reaches_parser_once and test_documented_source_example_executes_without_model exercise complete Graph/Parser and example flows. They are integration tests, but src/bundles/flashdata/tests/test_flashdata_components.py has no integration marker and is not under a tests/integration directory. The repository already uses @pytest.mark.integration and tests/integration for such tests.

Resolution

Move the Graph/Parser and documented-example tests into src/bundles/flashdata/tests/integration/test_flashdata_integration.py and mark them with @pytest.mark.integration (or a module-level marker). Keep component-level unit tests in test_flashdata_components.py.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Allow underscores in GCS bucket names

The shared bucket regex allows only [a-z0-9.-]. Google Cloud Storage bucket names can also contain underscores, for example my_bucket. This validator rejects a valid GCS destination before submission, and the user cannot work around the check. Allow _ when kind == "gcs".
