Save the text of a public X/Twitter post from the iPhone share sheet without manually selecting text.
X app → Share → Save X Post → clean text + metadata → share/save anywhere
The project is intentionally small. The backend accepts an X/Twitter status URL, fetches structured post data from public embed-compatible sources, normalises it, and returns plain text or JSON that an iOS Shortcut can pass to Notes, Notion, Files, Mail, Messages, etc.
- Cloudflare Worker backend
- X/Twitter URL parsing
- Primary extractor: Twitter/X syndication endpoint
- Fallback extractor: FxTwitter API
- Clean text formatter
- JSON output for future integrations
- CORS support
- Local unit tests using fixtures
- iPhone Shortcut setup instructions
Returns formatted plain text.
Returns normalised JSON.
Example JSON:
{
"id": "1234567890",
"url": "https://x.com/example/status/1234567890",
"author": {
"name": "Example Person",
"handle": "@example"
},
"text": "Example post text",
"created_at": "2026-08-23T01:23:45.000Z",
"quoted_post": null,
"media": []
}- Create a Worker in Cloudflare.
- Replace the default Worker code with
src/worker.js. - Deploy.
- Copy the resulting
https://....workers.devURL. - Follow
SHORTCUT.md.
No X API key is required for the current extraction methods.
This relies on public, unofficial/embed-compatible endpoints. X can change them without notice. That is why the extractor code is isolated and has a fallback instead of baking one fragile endpoint into the Shortcut itself.
Protected, deleted, age-gated, or otherwise unavailable posts may not be retrievable.
