Currently, coredis is pinned to < 6.0 through the limits dependency: https://github.com/alisaifee/limits/blob/cb0ff4294d1b713b7892f975443d04cd21d98dfa/pyproject.toml#L60
I recently noticed that the tests were failing under NixOS, which ended up being because it disregards some of the the dependency pins and coredis was updated to >= 6.0.
Describe the solution you'd like
Since limits seems to be intentionally restricting the coredis version, is may be time to switch to a different redis implementation? limits also supports pyredis, but I don't know if this works well in the irrd context.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I can also keep pinning coredis to < 6.0, but it would be nice to be able to update it at some point.
