Why are these changes needed?
Publication and monitoring dashboards currently use a comparison grid with fixed column
proportions and generous cell spacing. Long previews make records tall and counts/rates
lose the compact layout of the source table.
Add an opt-in
Tabledata variant and compact density, with token-based column widths, alignment and wrapping/ellipsis. Column styling can bind to each column; summary/baseline
styling can bind to each row. Existing comparison tables keep their defaults and winner
markers. Full text remains available on hover when a preview is truncated.
Data tables use a subtle top rule matching their row separators, and numeric nowrap cells
retain their full count text alongside percentage pills.
The Card author now has a packaged
tables.mdresource containing a validated workedexample with separate ID/Preview columns and composed count/percentage pills. External
HTTP(S) links open in a new tab in Screens and saved-instance previews. Inputs, actions
and in-app navigation links remain passive.
Screen pages omit the source-editing button; the Screen file remains editable in Files.
Source controls stay hidden while automatic updates succeed, and appear for failed updates
or code approval. Sources refresh once on Screen load, including Cards below the fold. The Screen has no
interval timer, file polling or subscription to updates from other views; reload the page
to read new data. Chat and saved-instance previews retain their existing refresh scheduling.
Author discovery and Screen editing instructions explicitly advertise the width binding
and require the current table reference, including in conversations containing older
instructions. This addresses an observed edit that replaced the Table with independent
Rows and then restored it without configuring column widths.
Related issue number
Stacked on #137, appended to stack #131. Implements the publication-table layout request;
does not close a separate issue.
Validation
Python unit suite: 2419 passed, 2 skipped. SPA unit suite: 554 passed. Ruff lint/format,
mypy, svelte-check and the production build also pass.
A live Chrome pass checks compact rows, wider previews, ellipsis/full-text titles, numeric
alignment, inline toned pills, summary/baseline rows, horizontal scrolling inside the Card,
and the original DecisionMatrix winner markers. The real Kanban Screen also checks hidden
source controls, one refresh on Screen load, no repeated refresh after 60 seconds, and
visible recovery controls when a code version needs approval. A real dashboard checks all
five sources load once, the Screen makes no background reloads, and page reload reads its
SQLite database again. Dashboard scripts and data remain local user files, outside this PR.
No app console or network errors.
Checks
ruff check .,ruff format --check ., andpytest -m "not integration"locally and they pass.web/, I rebuilt and committed the SPA bundle (npm --prefix web run build).AI assistance
Implemented with Codex assistance; the generated code, worked example and PR description
were reviewed and validated with automated checks and a live Chrome pass.
