[Feature Request] Auto retry/wait when daemon if being running #444

Open

Description

@Buom01

Obviously, my hyprland config is like that :

exec-once = swww-daemon &
exec = swww img ~/.wallpapers/anything.jpg -t grow &

Unfortunately, it's a concurrency issue as it would something launch with Error: "Socket file not found. Are you sure swww-daemon is running?"

My current config involves a sleep 3 && . That's ugly, and I think that's should be implemented on the software side.

Could swww implement that ?

Maybe an --async argument which would wait on the socket

    After you set the image one, the next times the daemon is initialized the image should be cached and loaded immediately. Is this not happening to you?

    The problem with an --async argument is that the client could end up waiting indefinitely if the daemon just wasn't started.
