MongoDB is not working with PHP buildpacks

MongoDB extension is not working with gcloud builds submit --pack.

Build log:

I suspect this is because we have to pre-install the mongodb PHP extension in the base images

I was actually able to build the sample project you linked using the GAE builders for PHP and the pack CLI

us-docker.pkg.dev/serverless-runtimes/google-22-full/builder/php

Give that a shot!

Looks like build passed using:
pack build appengine-mongodb-issue --env=GOOGLE_COMPOSER_ARGS=--dev --builder=us-docker.pkg.dev/serverless-runtimes/google-22-full/builder/php

I will test if the extension works correctly.

Question:
How does the release cycle work to have it working on gcloud builds submit --pack?
