A native Windows desktop app to visualize and inspect 3D models - like VLC,Irfan View but for 3D files.
Built on the excellent Online 3D Viewer by @kovacsv, wrapped in Electron to run fully offline on your PC. No browser, no upload, no internet required.

Windows has a built-in 3D model viewer but is limiting. As an Environment artist and mentor aspiring artist. I work daily with multiple OBJ, FBX, GLB and other files, I needed something fast, double-click a file and it opens, done. The same way you open an image or play a video.
I tried some other options like 3D world but that was again limiting for me. Online viewer is great but need to open the browser and upload the files. I didnt find any desktop build on main page (if there is already and I missed then send it my way).
So I came up with the idea and used Anthropic's Claude to guide the implementation, writing the Electron wrapper, debugging build errors, wiring file associations, and building the automated build script. Every error I hit, I pasted into the conversation. Every feature I wanted, I described it and it gave me nice responses, Even this readme (Which I surely edited).
- 18+ formats - OBJ, FBX, GLB, GLTF, STL, DAE, 3DS, PLY, STEP, IGES, IFC, 3MF, WRL, OFF, BIM, BREP, AMF, 3DM
- Drag & drop - drop any model directly onto the viewer window
- File associations - register formats with Windows so double-clicking opens the app
- Installer + portable - NSIS installer with directory chooser, or a portable
.exethat needs no installation - Dark viewport by default - no blinding white canvas on launch

Note: Windows SmartScreen may show a warning on first run since the app is unsigned. Click More info → Run anyway.
If you want to build from source then everything is automated in a single script or Run simple commands manually.
