Hello,

Thank you very much for your recent help in getting my proxsave updated from an ancient version to the current. I have bought you a cup of coffee!

Here are my experiences doing this upgrade.

1. During the post-install check of the install, the TUI (accessed from a proxmox console) became unresponsive after selecting "Disable All." Individually selecting each item to disable and choosing "Disable Selected" worked.
2. Email notification setup wasn't clear to me. I expected to fill in some SMTP parameters. Relay and sendmail looked like the wrong choices to me, so I tried pmf and it worked without further configuration. I don't know what pmf is or why it worked. Maybe a little documentation would be good?
3. It wasn't immediately clear that I needed to manually edit BASE_DIR into the config file. Maybe add a commented-out dummy line?
4. On multiple directories in the backup location I'm getting permission warnings. All of these directories are mounted on a CIFS share from a Windows 11 machine. It all works, and the warnings aren't hurting anything, but I don't see how to address the warnings since Windows doesn't have the permissions that Linux does.

Anyway, thanks again for a nifty product. The above are not intended as complaints of any sort, just documentation in case it helps improve the product.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, all four points were valid. I’ve fixed the “Disable All” behavior, clarified the email notification setup and delivery methods, made it explicit that BASE_DIR is detected automatically, and improved handling for CIFS/Windows-backed shares so permission warnings are not shown when they don’t apply. These fixes will be included in the next update.

I updated all four of my proxsave installations, and can verify that all four run without permission warnings now (in fact, no warnings of any kind).

I'm not able to comment on the other three fixes since I didn't do a scratch install.
