SumatraPDF 3.6/3.61/3.7n · Epub3 · Errors

I am working with SIGIL producing E-books in various formats. For me SumatraPDF is the tool for quick preview and reference.

It seems to me that SumatraPDF is not coherent to Epub3 standards. Could anybody confirm that it does?

The following errors/omissions/malfunctions have come across my work:

X table of contents is not generated, needs addition of Epub2 »«
X cover image is shown as thumb-nail not full size
X included fonts (ttf, woff, woff2) are ignored
�X font-style (italic, bold) is ignored within text/paragraphs
X font-weight (400, 700) is ignored within paragraphs
X attribute of spaced text is ignored
X background-color of text is ignored
...
I stop here as it is too laborous to check-up all differences to the previous version 3.5.2.

At the moment SumatraPDF is simply a text-machine, it does not represent the typographic values of a book. Can this be changed, please?

I am NOT the developer so they may say different.

SumatraPDF is now totally dependent on MuPDF for ePub manipulation. (Even in the past the legacy engine was generic eBook flowable text)
But does add or change some ePub functionality differently.

However, I agree MuPDF as a document handler never "claims" .epub3 compatibility so is likely to lag behind often until bug reported and slowly accepted at Ghostscript Bugzilla.

Thank you @GitHubRulesOK for clarifying things. I wasn't aware that SumatraPDF depends on MuPDF. But PDF is not EPUB.

Anyway, I will stick to 3.5.2 as this version is currently the quickest way to get an overall impression and for proof reading. Even Calibre Reader does not support EPUB in all aspects.

Answer to your cover image is shown as thumb-nail not full size
In Settings - advanced settings
change :
EBookUI [
FontSize = 0 "- don't change"
LayoutDx = 0 "- don't change"
LayoutDy = 0 "- don't change"
IgnoreDocumentCSS = false to true "- change"

This does the trick

Don't forget to save the advanced settings - it's a simple textfile
