In the C extension, if Intellisense breaks (which it often does), one can right-click on the editor and click “Restart Intellisense for Active File” to do exactly that. This feature is not present for Java, making the most convenient solution restarting all of VSCode.
Extension version: 1.51.2025122008
VS Code version: Code 1.107.1 (994fd12f8d3a5aa16f17d42c041e5809167e845a, 2025-12-17T14:15:14.850Z)
OS version: Linux x64 6.8.0-90-generic
Modes:
Before starting, I wanted to confirm if adding a command to restart IntelliSense for the active Java file aligns with the project direction, or if there is already a preferred way to handle this.
Having the LSP glitch up does happen on occasion, but we usually present a popup to the user when it's needed (eg. a setting that won't take effect until the extension is restarted was changed). The "Restart and delete workspace" command, which is already available to end users, is more helpful for the cases where we don't explicitly prompt the user to restart (as an example of such a case: project was imported wrong and needs to be reimported).
I don't think we're going to go in this direction, but thanks for staying involved and helping out!

Hi! I’d like to work on this feature.
Before starting, I wanted to confirm if adding a command to restart IntelliSense for the active Java file aligns with the project direction, or if there is already a preferred way to handle this.
Thanks!
