roblem / Need: The current VS Code IDL extension provides syntax highlighting, but it lacks deeper coding assistance. Developers often spend extra time typing out long IDL keywords or remembering procedure names, which slows productivity and increases the chance of errors.
Proposed Solution:
Add intelligent auto-completion for:
Built-in IDL keywords and functions.
User-defined procedures/functions from the current workspace.
Common code snippets (e.g., PRO, FUNCTION, END).
Integrate with VS Code IntelliSense so suggestions appear contextually while typing.
Allow customization via settings (toggle built-in vs. user-defined suggestions).
Benefits:
Speeds up coding by reducing repetitive typing.
Improves accuracy and reduces syntax errors.
Makes the extension more competitive with other language plugins that offer rich IntelliSense support.
Helps new contributors learn IDL faster by surfacing keyword suggestions.
Optional Extras:
Hover tooltips with short documentation for built-in keywords.
Snippet expansion for common structures (loops, conditionals, etc.).
Support auto-completion across multiple files in a workspace.
