        <p>What he takes on, when he takes anything on: contract work on small, self-contained
          tools — one clear job, a finish line, no ceremony; agent work, wiring models into
          systems that do something useful; and instrument-style data visualization, built to be
          read rather than admired. If the thing you need looks like one of those, say so in the
          first line.</p>
