Hi all I'm new to Home Assistant and coding in general, but I've really been enjoying setting up ChoreOps. I've run into a problem while customising our dashboards. I was editing the dashboard chore card code to start to personalise it, but now the card isn't visible at all. As a troubleshooting step, I copied the code from another user's card that is rendering correctly, and updated the user ID and entry ID to match the user the card isn't visible for, but the card still doesn't appear. I also created a new dashboard from scratch and restarted HA which also didn't work. I'm obviously missing something, but I'm not sure where to look next. Has anyone come across this before or have any suggestions on what I should check? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

This is a common problem that users trying to customize chore cards run into. It can all be done, but in short, the dashboards carry some special template code that isn't visible without looking at the raw yaml. Review the https://github.com/ccpk1/ChoreOps/wiki/Advanced%3A-Dashboard#card-portability and see if that gets you pointed in the right direction. |

Thanks, I haven't had a chance yet to go through the dashboard card portability instructions but even when I create a new dashboard the chore card isn't visible, its also effecting another dashboard which I hadn't been editing. This makes me think its not an issue with the syntax in the card I was editing the preferences for. I will go through the instructions now anyway. Thanks for your help! |

Yeah if you created a dashboard from scratch and a chore you expect to see for that user isn't there, then it's likely a completely different issue. I would check to confirm the chore entities are showing in the developer tools. You can use the troubleshooting guide in the wiki if you need some basic context, but let me know how I can help. |
I followed the instructions and also used the YAML code from the working user's dashboard and that worked to make the card visible, but it was for the other user. When I adjust the card code for the correct user again, it disappears. This makes me think it's something to do with the user rather than the dashboard itself. |

Sorry, just checked the logs and there's a template error - Template output exceeded maximum size of 262144 characters Following this I added some filters so not all chores would be displayed and the card is now visible. Thank you! |

If you have a lot of chores, that can happen with certain templates like the lite and essentials. If you use the standard chores template or the gamification template, they can support 100+ chores. It's a jinja limitation of sorts with the others. Glad you've got something working. |
