Toasts in Fullscreen

So i am usually watching stuff on full screen, when my laptop's battery gets low and it usually turns off when i don't notice it. This is because the battery indicator toasts do not appear on full screen( or rather any toast don't appear). I have tried enabling it from shell.json in utilities.toasts but it doesn't work.

how do i set this up properly? how can i even diagnose the problem?

The problem is the value "on". utilities.toasts.fullscreen only accepts three strings: "off", "important", or "all". Anything else, including "on", falls through to "hide", which is why nothing shows up over fullscreen apps.

For battery warnings, "important" is probably what you want. It only lets warning and error toasts through, and the low-battery and "hibernating" toasts are exactly those types, so you won't get the volume, keyboard layout, or now-playing toasts over your video:

Use "all" if you want every toast over fullscreen apps.

You can also set it from the settings app: Notifications → Toasts → Show in fullscreen (Off / Important / On). Note that "On" there saves "all" to the file, which is probably where the "on" confusion comes from.

How to diagnose it yourself: the check is shouldShowToast() in modules/utilities/toasts/Toasts.qml. It returns early when no window is fullscreen, and otherwise only compares against "all" and "important".
