Input Key Recorder Extension

This Chrome Extension shows a small on-screen display of key inputs (like arrow keys, WASD, Enter, Shift, etc.) when you click the extension icon.

🔧 How to Install

Follow these steps to install the extension manually:

1. Download the Extension

  • Click the green Code button on this repository
  • Choose Download ZIP
  • Once downloaded, extract the ZIP file

⚠️ Make sure when extracting, the files go directly into a folder (not nested inside another folder).
The folder should contain the following files:

manifest.json
background.js
recorder.js
icon.png

2. Load the Extension in Chrome

  1. Open a new tab and go to: chrome://extensions/
  2. In the top-right corner, enable the Developer mode toggle
  3. Click the Load unpacked button
  4. Select the folder that contains the extracted files
👉 Do not select the individual files — select the folder itself

3. Use the Extension

  1. Navigate to any webpage
  2. Click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar (looks like a puzzle piece)
  3. The input display will appear in the corner of the page
  4. Press arrow keys, WASD, Enter, etc. — they’ll show up in the display!

✅ Features

  • Displays: Arrow Keys, WASD, Enter, Shift, Escape, Space
  • Real-time logging
  • Appears only when you click the icon

📌 Note

This extension only runs on the page after you click the icon. It does not run on its own.
