Can API endpoints be used publicly?

Hi, I’m building Starcat, a macOS app for discovering and analyzing GitHub repositories.

I really like SimRepo’s recommendation quality and would love to integrate similar-repository recommendations into Starcat.

I noticed the extension calls the Qdrant recommend endpoint directly. Before using it in Starcat, I’d like to ask:

1. Is third-party usage of this endpoint allowed?
2. Are there any rate limits or attribution requirements?
3. Would you consider offering an official API or partnership?
4. Is there a recommended way to integrate SimRepo responsibly?

I’m happy to add attribution and cache results on my backend to reduce load.

Hello, thank you for asking, here is my stance on this:

Is third-party usage of this endpoint allowed?

I'll allow it but only if you do not charge users for it. Gathering the data and building a model is the hard part, and I don't want people to profit just by building UIs on top of my API.

Are there any rate limits or attribution requirements?

Just do not scrape data, only perform a request when an end user has interacted, and please cache data for a least 24 hours.

Would you consider offering an official API or partnership?

Sure, but it has to be worth it

Is there a recommended way to integrate SimRepo responsibly?

• Software should be free to use
• Don't send automated requests, only send requests when a user is interacting with the software
